#73: Beef Initiative Conference with Texas Slim and Jason Wrich (@modernTman & @JasonWrich) - Sound Money & Sound Food, July 22-23

Summary

Texas Slim, the founder of the Beef Initiative, and Jason Wrich, owner of Wrich Ranches in Crawford, Colorado, joined the Meat Mafia Podcast today to discuss their upcoming event on July 22nd hosted at Jason’s Ranch. The Beef Initiative has been focused on educating people on the importance of sound money and sound food by promoting a hyperlocal approach to food. Slim popularized the expression “shake your rancher's hand” and “food intelligence” and the event he’s hosting in July exemplifies this mission. In our conversation with Slim and Jason, we discuss: What to expect at the Beef Initiative Event The bond between sound money and food The importance of getting to know your rancher Connecting communities in-person to share knowledge The lineup of speakers: Matt Odell, Josh Rainer Gold, Katie the Russian & More**FOR TICKETS CHECK OUT THE LINK BELOW**Link to Beef Initiative ConferenceBRAND AFFILIATESLMNT Electrolyte Drink Mix: LMNT is loaded with the electrolytes you need without the sugar. Speaker 1:

What's going on, Meat Mafia? Welcome back to another episode of the one and only Meat Mafia podcast. On today's episode, we are joined by two recurring guests, Texas Slim and Jason Rick. Texas Slim is the founder of the Beef Initiative, and Jason Rick is a regenerative farmer out of Crawford, Colorado. On today's episode, we are talking about the upcoming beef initiative event, which is gonna be held on July 22 in Crawford, Colorado on Jason's ranch.

Speaker 1:

The event is loaded with great speakers both on the Bitcoin side and on the health side. From Bitcoiners like Matt O'Dell, Katie the Russian, Econo Alchemist, and Rad a k forty seven, and ranchers and nutrition experts like Josh Rayner Gold, Scott Hawk, Weldon and Anne Warren, and, of course, the meme mafia. The topics that are gonna be discussed at this event are all around self sovereignty, specifically around Bitcoin, like self custody, plan b passports, and Bitcoin security, but also food system topics like homesteading, home births, and, of course, nutrition. The event is really gonna bring together a lot of people who are focused on this idea of self sovereignty. If this is something of interest to you, keep listening and think about attending the event.

Speaker 1:

It's gonna be a great in person event, and we hope to see you there. I hate ads, so I'll make this quick. We have given you guys some discount codes on three great products we have partnered with. Speaker 1:

We're rolling here on another episode of the Meat Mafia podcast. Joined by our first and eleventh guest, We have Texas Slim and Jason Rick in joined here by Salazzo in person today. So we've got a good crew here. Ready to talk some food intelligence. How are guys doing?

Speaker 2:

Awesome. Awesome.

Speaker 3:

Hey, guys. Good to see you guys, man. It's been a while since, we we you and I first talked, Harrison. It's been a while. Right?

Speaker 1:

It has been a while. I think the last time we saw each other was at your first beef initiative conference. But you know, for a little backstory context, you know, I started writing for you back in December, really talking about all the stuff you're working on in terms of food intelligence. And now you've built out this grander vision for the beef initiative, which has been amazing to see, really, just going from a blog to the proof of work that you talk about where you're hosting these physical meetings. And now you've got your your second one coming up, right, here in in the next few weeks.

Speaker 1:

So this is just amazing to see the progression in what you and Jason are working on. So we're excited to dive in. It's gonna be a great conversation.

Speaker 3:

Yeah. I remember when you contacted me and, you know, the the blog was going well, the harvest of deception series. You know, you had read that and it kinda, you know, attracted you to saying, hey. You know, I wanna be kind of a part of this. And from the beginning, was the beef initiative is open sourced and it's crowdsourced.

Speaker 3:

We want to help everybody out that wants to have a voice. And you guys have done phenomenal just coming through that funnel that we've tried to create for, you know, people that are writing content, but also especially for the rancher like Jason. I mean, same time, Jason, I I think we met about the same time. Wasn't it back

Speaker 2:

in December, late November last year? Yeah. Late December. Yeah.

Speaker 3:

Yeah. It was. And, you know, our first conversation, I mean, we haven't missed a beat ever since just like you guys. And you guys just blew up overnight. And then look at Jason.

Speaker 3:

Look what he's done with his ranching and the awareness that he's bringing to the table, the education that he's doing, because that's what he really is, is an educator. And it all kind of molds into something that's very positive. And I think we're all kind of, you know, stewarding it and honoring it in the right ways. And so it's really cool when we get these times that all four of us can kind of have a chat and kind of let everybody know what we're doing.

Speaker 4:

Yeah. This is a special episode for us because this is like you guys are both two of our favorite people that we've probably learned the most from out of everyone. Slim, I remember the first time Harrison started writing for you back in November. I was literally sleeping on his floor in Austin, and the Meat Mafia wasn't even a thing yet. But we just knew that we were passionate about food, and he was loving writing for you.

Speaker 4:

And, Jason, I remember, I think it was either Slim and connected you with us or Harrison. And Harrison was like, we have to get this guy on the podcast. He's an awesome regenerative rancher. He's got an amazing perspective. I feel like this episode for us is, like, the kind of, like, the culmination of the four of our friendships.

Speaker 4:

And it's actually the perfect time because we've got our beef initiative Colorado conference. Jason's gonna be hosted on your property. We're speaking on it. Slim, you're the brains behind the operation, and it's amazing how this thing has come together. So I think Slim is a starting point.

Speaker 4:

I think maybe just a little bit more context into some of these beef initiative events and why we're hosting them would be great. And I think, Jason, we'd love to separately talk to you about what's going to be different about Colorado and what people can expect coming to this because we think our audience is going to love it.

Speaker 3:

Yeah. I get that question asked a lot. What is the BEEF Initiative and what are these conferences? Whenever we first started the beef initiative, it started me saying, Hey, I'm going go buy a freaking full cow, and then I'm going to trade somebody in Bitcoin for it or I'm going to sell it in Bitcoin. I'm going to trade it to my family.

Speaker 3:

We're gonna start understanding decentralized food and decentralized money. You know? Sound food, sound money. And with these conferences, I believe Jason was the first one that I contacted. And I said, hey, Jason.

Speaker 3:

I'm gonna put on four freaking conferences in 2022, and I wanna have one out at your ranch. What do you think? And he was like, hell, yeah. And I was like, okay. This is how we need to do this because we gotta do this boots on the ground.

Speaker 3:

We gotta show proof of work. We've gotta be educators here. This is not a marketing plan. This is not a fiat centralized idea. This is true like grassroots, grass fed grassroots proof of work that we've got to show the nation.

Speaker 3:

It's a low time preference way to go out there and show these local communities that, you know, we want them involved in the beef initiative. The local regenerative farmer and rancher needs to have power. He needs to have a voice because he is so squandered with centralized control apparatuses of social media, you know, mainstream media, marketing, advertising. People really don't understand that the the true American rancher does not have a voice anymore. And I felt that having these four conferences was a way to give somebody like Jason a new pillar of strength with what he does.

Speaker 3:

You know, he has one pillar of revenue right now, one revenue stream, and that's to sell his cattle. Well, let's start giving the regenerative farmer and rancher and just ranchers in general, different pillars of strength where they can develop new pillars of revenue. Maybe it's education, maybe it's content delivery, maybe it's having these conferences on their land once a year to where they can actually be known as an educator, be known as somebody that's a steward of their community, of a decentralized way of communicating. So this is our second conference. You guys dropped by the first conference.

Speaker 3:

That was a massive success. We just kind of pulled it out of our it out of our ass, but we did it. But the second conference right now, I mean, we really are I mean, this is going to be a quality conference that I'm extremely excited for. And by saying that, I let Jason kinda, you know, let him kind of explain where he is, you know, with the conference, how we're gonna approach it, and then we kinda talk from there. Well,

Speaker 2:

yeah, I mean, the exciting thing is is, like, where I live and where I get to work every day is a vacation destination. So not only do I get to work outside as a regenerative rancher, not only do I get to provide nutrient dense protein to my customers, not only do I get to be a steward of the land, I get to interact with new people pretty much every day. If you stop in the coffee shop, it's everybody's to talk about where can they sow source some local beef for their barbecue or whatever. And so it's one of those things where having that open form of communication with me and being able to to visit with all of those kind of people is a high priority to me. So the opportunity to bring people here who are, number one, interested in decentralized sound money, you know, in the form of Bitcoin.

Speaker 2:

Number two, they're very, intentional and passionate about where their food comes from, and they realize just how important pure animal protein is in their health as well as to give themselves a mini vacation that's also educational. I mean, it's like check all of the boxes and come to the Colorado Beef Initiative Conference. The other thing too is, I mean, the speakers that we have are fantastic, top notch nationwide. I mean, we have great people that are experts in all of their, different specialties. And so many of those specialties intertwine because they're also doing homesteading.

Speaker 2:

They're also doing home mining. They're also security. They're also health. You know, it's all of those things together. And so you put all those people together, It's like the best brainstorming session you could have.

Speaker 2:

It's the best networking session that you could have, and then you get to eat all locally sourced food. Animal protein, you know, beef, lamb, chicken, locally grown and sourced vegetables, all of the fruit is coming in the ripe right now. They're picking cherries. They're picking apricots. They'll be well into peach harvest by the time you guys get here.

Speaker 2:

And so it will be a full blown, like, a native American gorge fest of bounty for food, you know, and in a beautiful place. So it's a three day conference. I mean, it's a screaming deal just for the meals that you're gonna get while you're here, and all of the content is free. It's a bonus. You know?

Speaker 2:

And so it's Friday, we'll be at the lake there at Crawford Reservoir. Saturday and Sunday, we'll be here at our ranch. And then, of course, we have a couple of tours lined up also. I'm gonna tour some regenerative properties that I manage. Ben Justman, Peony Lane, Wine is gonna tour his vineyard and his parents' homestead.

Speaker 2:

And so and then, of course, you have regular vineyards, wineries, orchards. They they're doing regular tours. So any of those things tickle your fancy more. You could pretty much choose where you wanna go, but we're gonna have some things lined up ahead of time. Or if you just wanna do stand up paddle boarding on the river or out on the lake, or if you wanna go for a hike in the Black Canyon, I mean, you those all of those things are fifteen minutes from our ranch.

Speaker 2:

So, I mean, the the possibilities are endless. And so you could pretty much come and chill and relax and get a suntab, or you can get out and really explore it and completely fulfill your needs and desires with the experience.

Speaker 1:

So That's awesome. What sort of people are you guys expecting to show up? Like, is it gonna be mostly Bitcoiners, mostly ranchers looking to learn more about regenerative? What what are you guys expecting?

Speaker 3:

I think it's gonna be a lot like our first conference. I mean, we had what was none of business in Bitcoin. He said, man, it's crazy. We had a bunch of Bitcoiners, orange peeling ranchers. We had a bunch of ranchers, ranch peeling Bitcoiners.

Speaker 3:

Mhmm. And so all of a sudden, we had a 120 people just kinda, you know, collecting together and just having conversations. We had single people there. We had families. We had people that brought their kids.

Speaker 3:

We had people that were all about nutrition. We had you know, Doctor. Mary Care was there. We had people really trying to have a different lifestyle change. That's what I see.

Speaker 3:

The beef initiative is more of a lifestyle change than anybody really understands, and so it's for everybody. You know, Bitcoin education is fantastic. We're bringing it. Well, you know, we have Matt O'Dell. He's gonna come to a workshop.

Speaker 3:

I mean, who better than Matt O'Dell to be educating on Bitcoin? We have Econo Alchemist. I mean, he's he's preeminent in privacy and and home mining. And then we have you guys doing nutrition with Josh Rainier. You know, we've got the nutrition side of things.

Speaker 3:

And then, of course, we have Jason. And then we have Weldon Warren of Holy Cow. We have Scott Hoke of Sacred Songs Farm there from Colorado as well. We have a production team that's going to come and do video and audio and drone footage. And so it's for everybody, man.

Speaker 3:

Jason brought up all those mills. That's three days' worth of mills that are being provided with that ticket price. You can't find that right now in this economy. And what we're doing, and we want everybody to know, these conferences don't make any money. What they're really about is intentionality.

Speaker 3:

It's about people that are really intentional about having a new lifestyle. I call it an international lifestyle that everybody hasn't figured out yet. And the people that get to these conferences are starting to say, Whenever I leave this conference, my life has changed. And from that last conference that we had in Kerrville, that was a lot of feedback that we got is like, Man, you guys changed my life. My family is doing different now.

Speaker 3:

We're sourcing our food differently. We're looking at nutrition in a different way. We didn't understand kind of the lack of food intelligence that we did not have as a family. And a lot of these people have been trying. They just don't know where to start.

Speaker 3:

So I believe it's a starting point for everybody if they want to have that lifestyle change.

Speaker 4:

That's such a good point. And we both knew, right, that your Kerrville conference in April prior to us attending, we knew that it was going to be fantastic just because your brand is so unique. It's so authentic. It's so true to who you actually are. But we were honestly blown away.

Speaker 4:

I think it even exceeded our expectations, just the power of getting a 120 people in the same room actually talking about this stuff. Because I think you we've almost forgotten over the last two to three years. It's like we're doing everything behind a screen interacting on Twitter. So actually just to be able to, like, go up and shake Jason's hand, give him a hug after, like, communicating with him for six months, that stuff is just powerful. You can't really quantify it.

Speaker 4:

So it almost seems like Kerrville was the perfect place setting. And now we've got Colorado, which is, like, jacking that up to, like, a 10, just like a really unique experience in Colorado. Jason, I mean, I'm sure it's probably amazing for you just because I remember when you came on our podcast, one of the things you were talking about is you're so passionate about just being able to feed local families and provide them with pure animal protein. I can only imagine how excited you probably are to actually almost, like, take that connection to another level through this conference. Right?

Speaker 2:

Well, absolutely. And that was just it. You know, I handpicked a cow out of our herd specifically for this event because, of course, I wanted the best, fattest, juiciest Bessie with the nastiest attitude to make sure everybody could, you know, partake in that that kind of pure animal protein. You know? And don't get me wrong.

Speaker 2:

She was a sweetheart, but she came in open. And it's one of those things where and she's a young cow, and so we put her on some fantastic grass and alfalfa and got her fattened up. And it's one of those things that I'm going to get to share that. Like, my life's work, I'm going to personally get to share that with everybody who is intentional enough to wanna come out to our place and participate in what it is that we're doing here. You know what I mean?

Speaker 2:

That's where it's at. You know what I mean? It it used to be neighbors sharing with neighbors. One would raise hogs, and one would have a dairy cow, and one would, you know, whatever. You would share milk and bacon and and pork and all that stuff back and forth between each other.

Speaker 2:

And so that's just deeply ingrained in who I am as far as trying to get back to that. Because those of us that get to live on the farm and get to live that lifestyle, I feel that everyone that doesn't is really missing out. And so as an outreach for me to try and share that with more people, this is a perfect opportunity for that.

Speaker 3:

Yeah. Such a good point. And, you know, to build on that, what what you said, Jason, it made me remember what you went out and did this past year as well, Harrison. You went out and saw a bison be harvested and how you honor the animal. And I think that our culture and our society has forgotten that.

Speaker 3:

People look at that, oh my, they just killed a cow. Well, they don't know that somebody like Jason, somebody like us, whenever we actually source that pure animal protein, man, there's nothing but utmost respect for what that animal is giving to us and how it got there. And that's part of food intelligence education. That's just part of the pillar of education overall about our consumption models that everybody should have because it takes you down that rabbit hole of going, I need to really understand what food is again. So good point, Jason.

Speaker 2:

Yeah. Well, that's the that the great thing about, you know, being a beef producer and interacting with Bitcoiners is, you know, Rob and Arceress are coming to speak, and they're beef customers of mine as well. And so I've got to meet them face to face. We had a Bitcoin meetup in a parking lot when we were transferring be you know, meet. And then then they've got to educate me then on home mining and setting up a note and all of those things.

Speaker 2:

And so you have this value for value, and you have that real proof of work happening with all of those connections. And so, sure, a ticket's $350 or whatever it is. You know? Honestly, don't even pay attention. But if you look at that networking and that value for value that you're going to get, what I have found myself is I went a 100%.

Speaker 2:

So I doubled my money with every single time that I did that. So every time I would put myself out there and make those connections, I doubled my investment. And then that the network effect of that then doubles that investment over again, and then it does it again and again and again. And that's the thing for me is I approach everything with an open hand and an open heart, and it's one of those things where I am only a steward of the land and the financial resources and the land resources for a short time, and then I am gone. And so for it to pass through me to someone else, whether it's finances, whether it's beef, whether it's knowledge, that is really what my priority is.

Speaker 2:

And if you approach everything like that, you will never be poor because it always pours in on you more and more and more the more that you put yourself out there. And that's what I'm finding every single day. If you can put yourself in that place, not trying to grab everything because that's the thing that I find with the naysayers. They're like, oh, you can't do this. You can't do that.

Speaker 2:

You're this. You're that. Whatever. They're grasping and they're projecting just who they are and what they are. Whereas for me, I approach it like I love those people, and I love them up because I really sympathize and empathize with where they are, who they are, and where they're at.

Speaker 2:

Whereas the people who come into me and really pull in close, I keep holding them up. It's like I mean, it's like you guys are just doing amazing work, and the impact that you're having on people, their lives, their health, the way of thinking on sourcing their food and what it can do, and then them changing their own health just by following what you're recommending they do. You know? That's the thing is that I'm trying to do the same thing just from my perspective and and from my ranch and our property and our cattle. And that's the thing for me is I just I I can't emphasize enough just how important it is to get out there and get yourself out there because it's honestly not not that big of a deal.

Speaker 2:

It's not that much money. It's not that much time, but the rewards were will far exceed what your personal investment is.

Speaker 1:

Jason, your passion for what you're doing is so contagious, and I'm so excited to hear you speak in person and just have an audience to speak to. Is this something that you envision yourself doing just a few months back or hosting these live events?

Speaker 2:

Well, I hadn't I haven't envisioned it necessarily at this scale, but I have probably done 25 talks for different organizations on different subjects that I work in, whether it is ag, whether it is irrigation water, law and infrastructure, whether it is energy independence and how important energy is. I mean, I was an underground coal miner for fifteen years. And so I know the nuts and bolts all the way from the top to the bottom of all those jobs and just how important that is in a in a, well, in our energy grid as well as in communities as far as income for communities. And so, but for it to be totally personal because it's on our place, I hadn't I hadn't envisioned it. I mean, Slim and I talked about it.

Speaker 2:

It was like the second conversation we had, and I was kinda like, yeah. Okay. And then I went to Kerrville, and I was like, this is actually where it's at. This is where it really needs to be. Because the marriage between these kinds of folks, the Bitcoin folks, the the carnivore folks, the ranchers, the farmers, the processors, all of those things, those are the connections that we need to to regroup on so we can build that vertical integration that I've been preaching forever.

Speaker 2:

Right? I mean, because that's really where it's at, and that's what the big four packers have done. Now they completely captured the calf market so they can pay pennies for the calves. They go into their own privately owned feedlots so they can, you know, fatten them for as cheap as they can, and they have the captured market where they're have a contract with Costco or Walmart or Sam's Club already. And so if we can do that, you know, on the microscale and do super local and bring all those dollars back to our local communities, that's where it's at.

Speaker 2:

So everything is has to be grassroots, and, of course, I'm grass fed. So that, you know, Texas slims little thing of grassroots, grass fed, that's really where it's at. Mhmm. Because if you don't have to buy inputs, if you don't have to ship grain in and you could do it just with the grass that you can grow on your place, then all of those other inputs and all of the worries about the market go out the window because then you can control all of it. So, really, it's about that vertical integration.

Speaker 2:

And then once you can convince someone to get rid of the seed oils, get rid of all the processed crap, and focus on spending their their grocery dollars on that pure animal protein and that raw milk and all of those things, and they heal themselves. You know? And so it's cheaper because they're not having to go to the doctor. They're not having to buy over the counter, you know, gut meds and all of that stuff. And so, really, it's cheaper for them.

Speaker 2:

And then if you look at long term health, they're gonna live longer, happier, healthier, less less inflammation in their body. And so you know? But you have to start with one spark and one candle, you know, and then you build that fire bigger and bigger and bigger the more people that you touch and you reach out to. So and that and that's the thing that's so fantastic about the beef initiative. I mean, the core group of people that we're working with is fantastic.

Speaker 2:

The dedication, the professionalism, I mean, it almost I almost, you know, get a little emotional just talking about it because they are freaking amazing. And, that's why, I mean, that's why I'm so excited just to know you guys and for us to get together and sweat a little bit when you guys come out in July.

Speaker 1:

Let's do it.

Speaker 4:

And by you mean the whole conference is gonna have a cow, and then Harry's gonna have his own cow probably. Right?

Speaker 3:

Sure enough. I

Speaker 2:

was thinking I've got about two miles of four strand barbed wire fence to build. That's what I was thinking about. You two sweating. Let's see.

Speaker 3:

Yeah. This do it. I mean, I was building fence out here in West Texas a couple years ago. You guys never tighten wire. It's time to tighten some wire.

Speaker 3:

So That's what we yeah.

Speaker 4:

Cole was busting your balls, Jason, because I think he was joking about all the shit that we were gonna break volunteering on your farm because we're we're so we're boys from the Northeast by trade and don't know shit but are trying to learn. So

Speaker 2:

Well, that's like Mike's coming out a week early. And, you know, he keeps sending me little messages and little jabs on Twitter about some can I get to run this? Do I get to run that? I'm like, I DM'd him a picture of a shovel. You can run this, bud.

Speaker 2:

There

Speaker 3:

you go.

Speaker 2:

You're gonna be texting from

Speaker 1:

fence posts.

Speaker 2:

Yeah. Right.

Speaker 3:

Yeah. But in but in

Speaker 4:

all serious stuff, Jason, you may you made a good point, and, Slim, you touched on it before too when you're talking about the price a ticket. We've talked about this a lot because we get a lot of pushback, you know, just around the pricing of, you know, grass fed, grass finished ground beef. And it's like, first of all, it's not more expensive. But secondly, we love to call these things holistic assets because that's what they really are. Right?

Speaker 4:

It's your

Speaker 1:

Yeah.

Speaker 4:

Paying the front upfront price now to live the best possible life possible, have better energy, have good metabolic health, not have to pay for these different medications and kind of this reactive approach to your health. So it's a holistic asset. And, honestly, this the the price of a ticket to this is the same exact thing. That's something that we've really tried to do the last year when we decided we wanna throw ourselves into this space is, like, just start buying tickets to these different conferences. Because number one, Jason, to your point, it's like you're building this unbelievable network of people.

Speaker 4:

And just by having this network, it already will exponentially pay itself back. But we could probably speak to the Bitcoin piece for guys that don't come from a ranching background. Like, our big goal with the Meat Mafia is we wanna eventually be able to buy a plot of land, hopefully raise our families on it down the road, and that's kinda like our the way that we wanna give back and have that be our legacy. We're suburb guys. We don't know shit about farming.

Speaker 4:

So us just being able to pay and learn how to homestead and pick up these basics these incredible skills, like, that's the stuff that we need. So we're like, people just need to not look at the price and just focus on the immense value that you're gonna get because it's absolutely stacked.

Speaker 3:

That's a huge point because what you know? And once again and you you bring up a very strong narrative here. You know, everybody thinks that, oh, I've gotta have 400 acres, and I've gotta have 40 cattle. I've gotta have all that. And Jason pointed something out earlier.

Speaker 3:

Communities and neighborhoods and people used to you'd swap out hog and your beef and your fowl and your lamb or your produce and everything. Whenever you get into that type of dream that you talked about, Brett, it's really about understanding how to just get started, how to insert yourself into a different lifestyle. Once again, it starts with the source of the seed and what's going to empower you. The number one thing that empowers all of us is education. And these conferences are education, and it's not academic.

Speaker 3:

It's not institutionalized education. This is truly Jason brought up something months ago, and he's a master of observational science. And in today's society, and if you're young, you're old, it doesn't matter. You don't have to go to school anymore, man. You can you can teach yourself anything that you want.

Speaker 3:

All the education in the world is out there. It's knowing where to find it. And with the initiative itself, I knew as we move forward, we have to do something that really puts a pillar of understanding awareness that the BEAF initiative is also strong proponent of that type of education. This year alone, I was able to basically, as I went on that Texas to Tennessee barn raising tour, a lot of that was to get awareness out there that we created a endowment scholarship trust fund for the ranchers themselves. And so in Colorado, we'll be announcing our scholarship trust fund, and the first rancher that gets to have a scholarship in his name is Jason Rick of Rick Ranches.

Speaker 3:

What that means is that now he gets to bring somebody into his ranch and treat it like an internship program, an apprentice program. For a full year in 2023, we'll figure out the dates and everything. Jason will have a scholarship recipient that he gets to get a base layer foundation of knowledge to move forward in their lives. Where does that lead? That leads into Jason now.

Speaker 3:

He's got a ranch. Maybe he has a couple of tiny homes on his ranch now. Now he can start doing internship programs like a white oak pasture does, like Joe Salatin does, like a lot of people are starting to learn that they can leverage their ranch and their wisdom, their education of observational science, how to live a regenerative lifestyle that we're all preaching here. So that part of you guys understanding the value of these conferences, that's why I want these people, everybody out there to understand this conference is a way to change your life. It really is.

Speaker 3:

And if you're intentional about it, you will take away a life changing event. So

Speaker 1:

Wow. I don't know if there's a better way to put a bow on the conversation than that right there. That was that's exciting. I didn't know that you guys were putting that together. That's amazing.

Speaker 1:

And I don't think there's a better way for people to educate themselves, which is, Slim, Ben, your point from the beginning, getting these hands on experience around the food system and going out and being able to work side by side with someone who's doing it the right way.

Speaker 3:

It really is. And that's the only way to learn anymore. I'm sorry. I mean the institutions are captured in ways that I could give a rat's ass about what they teach anymore because they've helped destroy the soil. They've helped destroy our produce.

Speaker 3:

They've helped destroy our animals. They've helped destroy and capture our mindsets in certain ways that will lead us into basically a metabolical bankruptcy in this nation. So how do we get back to that? Well, we get to the source of the season of the issue, and now we're going be the source of the seed of the solution. And it is.

Speaker 3:

It's one rancher at a time. It's one individual, sovereign minded individual at a time. This is not a numbers game, man. This is a wealth of quality game. And, you know, if we start with the scholarship fund, you know, people we don't have to ask for permission.

Speaker 3:

I'm tired of asking for permission in our society to do what's good and what's right and what actually you know, you guys having to go through your health battles as young men, we don't need that anymore in this country. And and education and scholarship through a rancher that is is actually leading the new health initiative across The United States, that's what we need.

Speaker 4:

Yeah. I remember I we Harry and I have talked about this a lot. We both had our own experiences. Like, when we read your sub individually read your Substack for the first time, I remember literally having chills up my spine because, like you talked about, it's like we've had some of our own issues with health and weight and stuff like that. And it just I felt like the way that you just described big food and the way that we're, you know, metabolically and morally bankrupt as a society, it just it put everything perfectly in context.

Speaker 4:

Right? So I literally had chills when I read it the first time. So to think about, you know, going from reading your Substack for the first time where you've helped so many people awaken to this issue to now we're actually able to be part of Jason's event, actually be able to speak speak at it. You know, like, we're we're beyond honored. It means so much.

Speaker 4:

And it's incredible to see how far the beef initiative has come in a short period of time. And we know that you guys have massive goals for this thing, and we just you know, we wanna just help support it as much as we can because we know that you're truly changing the way that people are living, people are eating, like that. This is what we're supposed to be doing. Slim, for someone that does want to attend the conference, what's the best way for them to actually go about getting a ticket and getting themselves at the event at the July?

Speaker 3:

You bet. I mean, the best way right now to look into all of us right now is just go to thebeefinitiative.com. The conference tickets are going be sold there. We have education for ranchers that they can sign up for. You can look at the scholarship endowment trust fund.

Speaker 3:

So all of the information in the world is there. You can look us up on Twitter, of course, beefinitiative on Twitter or mine is moderntman. One thing we should really point out about the conference in that this is just the beginning. This is going to get historical in time. People always ask me from the very beginning, is this just a Texas thing?

Speaker 3:

Hell no, man. This is this is a this is a Texas thing. This is a Colorado thing. This is a Tennessee thing. This is a United States thing.

Speaker 3:

This is a North America thing. It's a global thing. And that's this is what the beef initiative is all about. And there's no boundaries here. There's no borders that we have to follow just like Bitcoin.

Speaker 3:

Bitcoin doesn't know borders, and it's decentralized. And if everybody can start thinking on a grander scale, it's like we accomplish, and we really build locally, but we broadcast globally. That's how you really start making change in the world these days. You know that you're not going to do the same thing here in Texas that you're going to do in France or you're going to do down in El Salvador. But it's going to be so many familiar aspects of what we're all collectively talking about that you can use this protocol.

Speaker 3:

I call it a new protocol of life, you know, as a decentralized protocol of life. And so it can happen anywhere, and that's our intentions. And you're going to have people like Jason Rick, that is one of the preeminent educators that I've come across as far as being self taught. I mean, he's got a wealth of knowledge that comes from his ancestors, the observational science. Once again, people need to open up the idea.

Speaker 3:

We don't have to ask for permission anymore. We're not going to. Just like you guys aren't asking for permission. I told you, think it was one of maybe that was back in January, we had a little conference call. I said, guys, if you if you haven't been in the end zone before, go ahead and act like you're in the end zone, and let's get there.

Speaker 3:

And if you start doing that and you have that confidence and that foresight and that vision, man, you get there as quick as as possible, and that's how, you know, the beef initiative has grown because it's it is collective. You guys have helped us out. We've helped you out. Jason's helped the beef initiative out. I've helped up, you know, Jason out.

Speaker 3:

And that's that's the only way you get there. You do not receive unless you give first, and that's what we're all about.

Speaker 1:

Love it. Cool. Well, we're so excited to get out there. We have a few short weeks here to get ready to go, and we're going to, you know, keep talking about it and get everyone excited for it because it's going be an amazing event. We know that you guys are going to put on a show, so it's going to be great to get out there and learn hands on.

Speaker 1:

I mean, Jason, I can't say it enough how thankful we are for you to open up your ranch to us and just be willing to teach us what you do on a regular basis. It's going be incredible.

Speaker 2:

Yeah. And, I mean, unfortunately, our irrigation water turned off here last Friday at the ranch. But, because that's a huge time, you know, time commitment to do that, and that would be an experience to have. But, we have lots of, other properties that we have leased, so we'll be able to make sure everybody has an opportunity to spend enough time on the end of a shovel and do some irrigate. So I'm excited to have you guys out.

Speaker 4:

Please tell me that those honey short ribs that you posted about will be served at the conference. And if not No.

Speaker 2:

We're gonna we're gonna do well, we we might do that for the guys that come early. So we'll have to go. Yeah. That might

Speaker 3:

be a Barter exchange. A peer to peer barter exchange.

Speaker 2:

Yep. Value for value. It depends on what your performance was throughout the day.

Speaker 3:

That's fair. We'll work I'm gonna go fly fishing. I'm gonna go out to Needle Rock. I'm gonna go back because I used to go out to Smiths Lark. I mean, there's so much to do out there.

Speaker 3:

You know, people need to really, really pay attention to this. What Jason said earlier, this is a destination vacation. I mean, right now with hyperinflation and how the country is moving, gas prices, it is something that you'll enjoy this summer if you make this a destination spot. And we got campsites for people that want to camp. I think we've probably got close to 10 more left, and that's it.

Speaker 3:

But there's all kinds of options for lodging. So get to the Beef Initiative site, look at it. You know, we've also we didn't bring up the, you a lot of the, you know, the women speakers. We got Katie, Russian, you know, plan b plan b passports. We got AK Amy.

Speaker 3:

She's gonna be there. We're talking about, you know, homeschooling, home birthing. You know, this is family values. This is about morals. I mean, you guys are going to be hitting home hard with nutrition and health.

Speaker 3:

You can't go wrong with this. And that's going to be something that I'm going to challenge you guys is to work your ass off as I go have fun. So

Speaker 4:

That's it. That's it. That's the that's the point of having the young bucks is so you

Speaker 3:

Exactly, man. I've done my time, man.

Speaker 4:

No. But thank you so much guys for doing this. We're glad to just be able to get the message out here. We can't wait to see you guys in person and have some steak and break bread. And we know it's gonna be an amazing conference, so we'll try and get this episode live ASAP.

Speaker 4:

And then if anyone has any questions about the conference, feel free to to DM the four of us, and we'll get back to you. And we'll we we hope to see you all there.

Speaker 2:

Man, thanks guys. So much, guys.

Speaker 3:

Yeah. I'm really proud of you guys, man. You guys are setting a standard, and, you know, we we're just getting going. And I'll leave it at at this. You know?

Speaker 3:

You we've all here on this call talked about it. People look at the Beef Initiative. We look at the vertical integration back into decentralized healthy food. What's really going on here with the Beef Initiative is that we're doing a vertical integration back into human health, and it's being led by the American Rancher. And we're going to be very proud about really announcing that going into 2023.

Speaker 3:

And this conference is going to be really a good signal that builds that narrative for the rest of the year, and then we're going to really knock it out of the park in 2023. Let's get global with this.

Speaker 1:

Love it. Beautiful.

Speaker 4:

Thanks, gents. We appreciate it.

Speaker 1:

Thank you, guys. Thanks, guys, man.

Speaker 3:

Talk to soon.
